In order to make EXPOLDB a comprehensive
database, we have incorporated data from other databases. To keep pace
with the updation of information available at the source databases, we
have devised a standard updation protocol. The data from other databases
will be updated every six months or depending on the updation at the source
database, whichever is later
EST and Tissue expression Data
We have automated the procedure to classify the genes expressed in blood
into different expression categories. This will be done twice in a year.
The EST and tissue expression data available at the UniGene database will
be used as the source data for this analysis.
Annotation Data
To keep consistency in annotation data we have taken the annotation data
from Affymetrix database, and hence will be updated as per the updation
in the Affymetrix annotation files.
Expression Data from our studies
We are carrying out more experiments on human individuals using the Affymetrix
arrays. We will incorporate this data into EXPOLDB on completion of the
experiments.
Expression Data from other sources
The incorporation of expression data from other databases will depend
upon the availability of the published data. Only Affymetrix microarray
data on human individuals will be incorporated. A standard procedure will
be adopted to filter the genes (as per the instructions at the source
database). Only the genes that had a present (P) call in all the experiments
will be considered. Mean expression and CV for the genes will be calculated
as described in the ‘System and Methods’ section in the manuscript or
‘Data Sources’ page on the EXPOLDB web site
